Meet the Coaches
Cameron Jones, Head Coach | Senior & Age-group Lead Coach
Head Coach Cameron Jones began swimming competitively for the Martinsville YMCA Marlins at the age of 5. He swam on the Marlins YMCA team for 14 years as well as the USA Club team for 8 years, he then swam all 4 years of high school and soon finished his swimming career at Old Dominion University. As an Age Group swimmer, his accolades include qualifying for Age Group Champs, Regional Championships, Eastern Zone SC Age Group Championships, Junior Nationals, and YMCA Nationals Swimming Championship.
Coach Cam swam for Martinsville High School qualifying for the VHSL States all four years, finishing in the top 5 in the 100-yard backstroke, top 5 in the 100-yard freestyle, and top 3 in the 50-yard freestyle at state finals. He became team captain of Martinsville High School's swim team during his Junior and Senior season.
Cameron attended Old Dominion University where he received his B.S. degree in Exercise Science and Biology.
Hunter Goad, Assistant Head Coach | Mini-Marlins Lead Coach
Coach Hunter began swimming competitively with the Martinsville Marlins at 9. Throughout his years on the swim team, he participated in the USA Club team and attended various swim camps. In addition to swimming at the YMCA competition level, Coach Hunter swims for Bassett High School and serves as co-captain.
Specifically swimming backstroke, butterfly, and the individual medley, Coach Hunter, has qualified for VHSL Swimming regionals each year during his high school career, finishing top 10 in each event swam. This year, he traveled to Richmond, VA, for the VHSL States, swimming the 200 Individual Medley and 100 backstroke.
Hunter also works at the YMCA as a lifeguard and swim lessons instructor. After graduating high school, he hopes to become a secondary school teacher and eventually a school division superintendent.
